Standing on the Ogden High School stage on March 16, 2019, Alisha Staggs had no idea what was about to happen.

“I went into this process ready for whatever it was going to be. I never thought I was actually going to win," the Riverton resident said. "When they said the name of the first runner up it took a second to realize what was happening."

Alisha has found that her message of service and kindness to those who are struggling for acceptance is universal. However, the need for kindness in schools is especially dire.

“Bullying stems from not being able to put yourself into someone else's shoes. The more we serve each other, the more compassion we have. The more compassion we have, the more we can reduce bullying in schools, at home, even at work.”

Alisha will compete in the prestigious Mrs. America competition in Las Vegas, Nevada in August.
